So, which came first; the vegan or the ballerina?
Ballerina first. I started dancing at a very young age of 7 and I've only been vegan for a few years.
Many people who begin to wean meat and dairy out of their diet report feeling lighter & healthier. Do you find veganism has had similar effects on you as a dancer?
Yes, absolutely. The first week I became Vegan I felt like I was given a new body. There was just nothing weighing me down anymore and I had so much more energy.
You recently collaborated with ARTISANSkin to create the super successful Vegan Body Oil (we will include the link here). that is completely plant-based, cruelty-free, and handmade in small batches. How did this oil go from a rough idea to a real life item?
The process from conception to having the product on the shelves was relatively quick for us. I had a few discussions with Amal Elbahnasawy, founder of ArtisanSKIN about what kind of product we would like to bring to the market and how the product should reflect the type of lifestyle that is important to me. I knew the product had to be vegan, cruelty free and all natural. Amal then carefully chose the ingredients and personally handmade the oil in small batches. It took us less than a month to launch the product on March 1st this year. I am very proud that at the end of the day, we both came up with a product that truly speaks of the sustainable and vegan lifestyle I truly believe in.
That's awesome! While on the subject of your dancing, we've learned you're represented by social media agencies in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Amsterdam. Where do you feel the most at home?
I grew up in Seattle and consider it my home.
Which of your GUNAS' pieces is your favorite & why?
I am obsessed with my Madison bag in Eggplant. Purple is my fave color and it's the perfect day to evening bag.
